About The Band

Discovery makes deep and groovy music—mingling rock with funk. The band’s live sets bring rhythmic Afro-beat and Latin elements to mix with smooth, spacey tones. Comparisons have included new wave acts like Human League and The Creatures. The group comprises Kathleen Cholewka on vocals and bass, Lex Marsh on bass and keys, Bridget Fitzgerald on viola and vocals, David Scott on percussion, and Zachary Eldridge on drums. 

Discovery’s first album, Pushy, was released mid-year in 2010. It is available on CDbaby and iTunes. The group has enlisted some of NYC’s music specialists to remix some of their tracks. The most recent are DJ Alfreako (Moonlight Mix of Starmagic now available on 7” vinyl and via DanceCampmusic.com), Ursula 1000 and Cru Jonez.

KATHLEEN CHOLEWKA (Libra) :: vocals, bass and hand percussion. Began singing upon conception, believes her abilities are hereditary. Seeks the meaning in her dreams of eating ice cream. Is a fan of flashy ridiculous bumping disco and prog rock. Tries to keep her head above water.

LEX MARSH :: bass or keyboards, sometimes sax. He makes music because inside he feels he must.  He likes tension and release and is endlessly intrigued by the concept of “intimate excitement.”  Dance music is always a turn-on for him.   The element of surprise appeals to Lex - in music and in many things.  

BRIDGET FITZGERALD :: viola, vocals.  Her path to music began at age two, when she channeled Houdini in order to crash the music classes being held in the building next door.  She was repeatedly ejected but did not take “No” for an answer.  Bridget adores games & puzzles, cleanliness, organizing, efficiency, preparation and winning; will tell you the glass is half full, unless it’s whiskey; works hard, but it’s called /playing/.

DAVID SCOTT :: percussion, flute, sitar. Has a master’s degree in street cred, and colorful clothes, and is a creator of delicious spaghetti recipes. Touring with Guru’s Jazzmatazz brought about a global awakening.

ZACHARY ELDRIDGE :: drums, percussion. Zack’s been playing drums since he was tiny and he plays funky beats made from love and cupcakes. He’s also a strong swimmer and a fast runner.
